Researching Science Papers - Awasom & Simpson In-Person
Researching Science Papers
Students new to the scientific research process find reading scholarly articles challenging and many professors do not take the time to explain the process but concentrate on training them with the skills necessary to conduct experiments in the labs. This workshop is appropriate for students who are engaged in or going to be engaged in undergraduate research culminating in presentations at the local and national level including undergraduate research conferences. It will also be helpful for senior and new graduate students whose work involves reading research papers and writing for their senior projects, theses or dissertations, or for publication. Participants will learn how to identify scholarly scientific research papers, how to read and synthesize information from a scientific paper, and also learn about information ethics in the writing process.
