Laser Cut Boxes In-Person / Online

Learn to use TinkerCAD and Inkscape/Illustrator to design your own laser-cut boxes. Learn to use TinkerCAD and the Makerspace’s Glowforge Plus laser cutter/engraver to build functional or decorative boxes. Specifically, this workshop will involve some more advanced modeling and design concepts within the CAD program TinkerCAD. The workshop will proceed with a walkthrough for designing a box using an online box generator, importing it into TinkerCAD, and then exporting it for lasercutting. We will address pertinent vocabulary words and how to optimize a balance between TinkerCAD's strengths and weaknesses. Additional topics include Library and external resources, various tips and tricks to optimize TinkerCAD's performance, and best practises in lasercutting. No experience necessary, all ages and skill-levels are welcome!
