AI Literacy at Lunchtime: Overview and Critical Examination Workshop -Hybrid- Burns, Jacobs, Salmans, Hebert- 309 In-Person / Online

Hybrid- both face to face and online web based interaction

Understand what generative AI is Understand the background of generative AI in higher education. Understand the biases and other problems inherent in AI systems

This workshop is part 1 in a 5 part AI Literacy at Lunchtime series. While AI tools have the potential to make the research and writing process easier and possibly faster than previously imagined, many of the people touting these tools use hyperbole about them, as they have in previous iterations of emerging technologies. We will examine exactly what generative AI is, its associated biases and other inherent problems in this workshop through a critical lens. This will be a discussion-based workshop. We will have some slides and/or demo a few tools or guides, but we also want to hear from you, the participants, about these topics. Come with your lunch, your questions, and your experiences.
