AI Literacy at Lunchtime: Evaluating Generative AI and AI Tools Workshop - Hybrid - Erin Burns - 309 In-Person / Online

Hybrid- both face to face and online web based interaction

Critically evaluate AI outputs Learn ways to evaluate content and develop critical thinking skills while approaching generative AI tools Understand current Texas Tech policies related to AI use in the classroom and within research

This workshop is Part 2 of 5 in the AI Literacy at Lunchtime Series. Generative AI tools have been producing content on a massive scale since OpenAI and other companies have made using their chatbots easier. While these bots can be biased, or outright wrong, its important to able to evaluate the generative AI tools, their outputs and their training data. This workshop will discuss ways in which different professions evaluate content, and how this can be applied to AI. From here, the discussion will move to the research on AI detectors and how we can evaluate AI generated content. This will be a discussion-based workshop. We will have some slides and/or demo a few tools or guides, but we also want to hear from you, the participants, about these topics. Come with your lunch, your questions, and your experiences.
