Altmetrics, Bibliometrics, and Scholarly Impact Workshop- Online Only- Brian Quinn, Innocent Awasom Online

1. Participants will understand the difference between altmetrics and traditional bibliometrics 2. Attendees will understand the value of using altmetrics to document the impact of their work to advance their career 3. Participants will understand the importance of creating an ORCID id and learn how to make use of it

Traditional bibliometrics is increasingly being called into question. It may not provide a complete picture of the scholarly influence generated by your research. In this workshop, you will learn alternative measures of scholarly influence and how they compare with traditional measures. You will learn the strengths and weaknesses of altmetrics and how they can be applied to your research to enhance your academic reputation. You will also learn the importance of creating a unique identifier so that your work will not be confused with the scholarship of others.
