AI Literacy: Overview and Critical Examination Workshop- Online Only- Burns, Jacobs, Salmans, Hebert Online
Online only- entirely web based live interaction, no face to face
Understand what generative AI is Understand the background of generative AI in higher education Understand the biases and other problems inherent in AI systems
This workshop is part 1 in a 4 part AI Literacy. While AI tools have the potential to make the research and writing process easier and possibly faster than previously imagined, many of the people touting these tools use hyperbole about them, as they have in previous iterations of emerging technologies. We will examine exactly what generative AI is, its associated biases and other inherent problems in this workshop through a critical lens. This will be a discussion-based workshop. We will have some slides and/or demo a few tools or guides, but we also want to hear from you, the participants, about these topics. Come with your lunch, your questions, and your experiences.
Registration for workshops closes two days before the event. You are welcome to email the presenters to get added to their list for the link.
