Make with 3D Printing In-Person / Online
This workshop will provide participants with an introduction to CAD (Computer-Aided Design) for 3D printing. Specifically, we will discuss FDM (fused deposition modeling) 3D printers, the types of software used for 3D rendering, and use cases for 3D printing, both academic and commercial. We will discuss 3D printing services and resources available both online and on-campus, focusing on the TTU Libraries Makerspace. Additional topics include best practices for 3D design, submission, and production with various tips and tricks. This workshop will involve hands-on design with the computer program TinkerCAD. Participants will receive a walkthrough on finding 3D models online, as well as how to import, modify and export them. The workshop will proceed with a walkthrough for designing an original 3D model in TinkerCAD and exporting it for 3D printing. The workshop will finish with ample time for experimentation and exploration of the concepts and techniques gained. No experience necessary, all ages and skill-levels are welcome!
