Learning Outcomes:

1. Faculty, staff, and graduate students will be able to recognize what data management is in the context of funding requirements for federal agencies

2. Faculty, staff, and graduate students will know what options TTU has for them in regard to local repositories, metadata solutions, and preservation strategies, including DataVerse, ThinkTech, and DMP Tool

3. Faculty, staff, and graduate students will know where and how to look for specific resources to enhance their data management plans and deposit their data in subject specific repositories to fulfill agency requirements.

Abstract:

The Data Management Plan has been around since a 2011 government mandate, but sometimes it’s the part of a grant writing process that seems unwieldy. How many places do you really need to save your data? What is metadata and why do you have to use it in your project? Why is preservation of your data after the award period so important and where would you even put it? We’ll answer these questions and others as we explore the requirements and solutions of the Data Management Plan.

Audience: Faculty, Staff, Graduate Students
