Introduction to Dataverse: An Interactive Walkthrough Workshop - Matt McEniry In-Person

Learning Outcomes:

1. Faculty, staff, and graduate students will be introduced to the Dataverse service provided by TTU Libraries & Texas Digital Libraries.

2. Faculty, staff, and graduate students will go through the steps to create their own Dataverse with either their own data sets or data set samples.

3. Faculty, staff, and graduate students will learn how to invite other researchers, create metadata, and share their data within this curated database.

Abstract:

Texas Tech University Libraries’ membership with the Texas Digital Library has given us access to the Texas Data Repository which is a platform for publishing and archiving datasets created by faculty, staff, and students at Texas higher education institutions. The repository is built in an open-source application called Dataverse, developed and used by Harvard University. This workshop will introduce participants to the Dataverse client and show them what they need to get started in terms of depositing their data, what types of data can be stored and shared, and how they can collaborate, share, and describe their data within their own personal space.
