Easy Digital Preservation for Researchers Workshop - Shelley Barba and Heidi Winkler In-Person

2-3 Learning Outcomes (based on ACRL Framework Knowledge Practices or Dispositions http://www.ala.org/acrl/standards/ilframework) :

1. Attendees will recognize the implications of information formats that contain static or dynamic information.

2. Attendees will accept the ambiguity surrounding the potential value of research creation expressed in emerging formats or modes.

3. Attendees will develop, in their own creation processes, an understanding that their choices impact how their research will be used and accessed in the future.

Abstract

Save future you both time and hassle by applying basic concepts of digital preservation to your research work now! Keep your digital research content safe from natural disaster, malicious deletion, and the all too frustrating and common human error. At this workshop, we will discuss the best ways to store your drafts and data, useful file-naming techniques, and the best file formats for future access and use.
