Library Orientation for International Students Workshop - B - Distance Users - Innocent Awasom, Jack Becker and Tom Rohrig

Distance Users will receive a link to use in Skype Business


2-3 Learning Outcomes (based on ACRL Framework Knowledge Practices or Dispositions http://www.ala.org/acrl/standards/ilframework):

1. Use research tools and indicators of authority to determine the credibility of sources, understanding the elements that might temper this credibility;

2. Give credit to the original ideas of others through proper attribution and citation;

3. Draw reasonable conclusions based on the analysis and interpretation of information.


This workshop will provide an orientation to new international students about using Texas Tech University (TTU) Library resources. In addition to learning best research practices, the attendees will learn about the Personal Librarian service, LibGuides, EBSCO Discovery Services (EDS), Google Scholar, Document Delivery, and EndNote. The attendees will also learn how to identify databases for research using subject categories and how to use 3 important databases--Scopus, Web of Science, and Statistica.
