Tracking Your Publication metrics and impact: PlumX - Jessica Kirschner
In recent years, the online environment has gained increasing importance in academia, influencing how scholars share and interact with research. How can we best measure the impact of scholarly work in today’s online environment? This workshop will introduce altmetrics, or alternative measures of scholarly influence, and provide an in-depth review of the tool we have for tracking altmetrics at Texas Tech, PlumX. Attendees will spend time creating a profile on PlumX which will allow them to track their publication metrics, demonstrating their value to colleagues, department chairs, or on P&T documentation.
Bullets:
- Understand what altmetrics are and how they create a wider understanding of scholarly reach and impact
- Understand what altmetrics resources are available at TTU and how they work
- Create online a personal profile for tracking publication metrics on PlumX, with the tools to maintain and update in the future
