Introduction to MakerSpace Workshop - Sean Scully In-Person

List 2-3 Learning Outcomes :

  1. Be able to import and perform basic modifications to an existing CAD object in .STL format.

  2. Be able to use 3DBuilder, 3Doodler pens, and a Structure 3D Scanner.

  3. Educate attendees on Library Resources for 3D printing and scanning.

Abstract:

This workshop will provide participants with a hands-on introduction to the 3D technologies in the Library Makerspace. Specifically, we will explore 3D scanning, 3D design and 3D Doodle pens. We will discuss 3D printing services and resources available online and on-campus focusing on the Library Makerspace. Additional topics include best practices for 3D design, submission, and production with various tips and tricks.

This workshop will involve hands-on scanning, doodling and designing. Participants will receive a walkthrough on how to find 3D models online, import them to 3DBuilder, modify and export them for 3D printing. The workshop will finish with ample time for experimentation and exploration of the tools and techniques gained.
