Creating Your Own Opportunities:Doing Community Profile and Site Selection Projects:A Guide to Census and other Resources - Face to Face Registration- Rob King, Tom Rohrig, Jake Syma Registration will open four weeks prior to the presentation date.
- 2-3 Learning Outcomes:
- Students will learn how to effectively develop a community profile or site selection report.
- Students will understand what resources are available including, but not limited to, government sources (particularly the Census), commercial resources, etc.
- Students will understand the role of Personal librarians and Southwest Collection Staff in assisting with developing these types of reports.
- Abstract:
- This workshop will provide an overview for doing a community profile or site selection for a specific area or community. Library experts from Business, Government Information, and the Southwest Collection will illustrate how to best use available resources to develop an in-depth community profile or site section report. This workshop will be useful for classes in business, mass media, nursing, history, etc. or any class that needs to do in-depth research on a community or site. Resources will include statistical databases, private/local/state/federal/international statistics, etc. Census information and tools will be emphasized.
