Please select one (submit one form per each class):: Instruction
- explore how to search the online resources and services of the library; normal time is between 45 and 80 minutes
What goals would you like to see achieved with this service?: I'd like to request Rob Weiner for this session. I'd like the students to have an opportunity to learn about journal databases, tools on the library website such as "citation linker," and how to understand and make the most of the library website (such as understanding keywords, how to search for things by a particular author, and so forth). Part of my plan is for the first 20 minutes or so is for students to go into the stacks and find books. I will give them the call numbers. Once they've retrieved them, we can have a discussion about how to understand an academic text, how to use the bibliography in it, etc. Then use citation linker or other search strategies to track down texts from the bibliographies. The students will be doing research projects on topics of their own choosing, as long as they are related to film and technology.
Estimated number of attendees:: 26
Academic status of attendees:: TTU Undergraduates
Requested date of session:: 10/22/2019
Start Time: Please clarify am or pm.: 11am
End Time: Please clarify am or pm.: 12:15
Comments:: Since my plan is for students to go into the stacks at first, it will likely take us 20min or so to get back to the instruction room in the library.
