HONS 4000 - Smith - Instruction - Innocent Awasom In-Person
Name:: Allie Smith
Course title and number: : HONS 4000 - Inquiry and Investigation Pi2 Cohort 4
Department or College:: Honors College
Please select one (submit one form per each class):: Instruction - explore how to search the online resources and services of the library; normal time is between 45 and 80 minutes
What goals would you like to see achieved with this service?: I am hoping to get library instruction on how to identify credible news sources. I see that the library has hosted similar workshops, and I am hoping to get a presentation tailored for this class. Pi2 is a course with first-semester freshman who are interested in conducting undergraduate research. I would like for them to learn how to distinguish legitimate versus not-legitimate information online, especially science and medical information. I would also like for them to be able to distinguish between reputable versus predatory journals, so when they do independent research they only pull information from credible sources.
