Predatory Publishing Workshop - Brian Quinn In-Person

There are only 30 computers available in our lab, we advise that if your are able to bring your own laptop or device.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Will understand the characteristics of predatory publishers 

2. Will understand strategies for identifying predatory publishers 

3. Will know how to distinguish predatory publishers from reputable ones 

Abstract:

Traditional bibliometrics is increasingly being called into question. It may not provide a complete picture of the scholarly influence generated by your research. In this workshop, you will learn alternative measures of scholarly influence and how they compare with traditional measures. You will learn the strengths and weaknesses of altmetrics and how they can be applied to your research. You will also learn the importance of creating a unique identifier so that your work will not be confused with the scholarship of others.
