Fake News, Misinformation, and Pseudoscience Workshop -Live Online Only no F2F- Brian Quinn In-Person

This workshop will be offered through the Zoom/MediaSite platform. You must register to receive email with the link to participate. Registration will close 48 hours prior to allow for sending out emails. You may contact Brian.Quinn@ttu.edu to be added after registration stops.

 

Learning Outcomes:

1. Students will understand what fake news and pseudoscience are

2. Students will learn the characteristics of fake news and pseudoscience, and how they are created

3. Students will learn how to differentiate fake information from real information

Abstract:

With the advent of web technology, it has become increasingly difficult to distinguish fake news and pseudoscience from legitimate information sources. This workshop focuses on how fake news and pseudoscience are created and spread, and how you can distinguish them from reputable information. You will learn principles that can be applied and what you can do to stop misinformation from spreading.
