Altmetrics Workshop- Brian Quinn, Innocent Awasom ONLINE In-Person

1. Students will understand the difference between altmetrics and traditional metrics

2. Students will know the strengths and weaknesses of using altmetrics to measure scholarly impact

3. Students will understand the importance of creating an ORCID id and know how to do it

Traditional bibliometrics is increasingly being called into question. It may not provide a complete picture of the scholarly influence generated by your research. In this workshop, you will learn alternative measures of scholarly influence and how they compare with traditional measures. You will learn the strengths and weaknesses of altmetrics and how they can be applied to your research. You will also learn the importance of creating a unique identifier so that your work will not be confused with the scholarship of others.
